Hello and welcome to Gene's Geekdom.
Our thoughts with this site is to provide a place where people, who haven't been as fully exposed to the "Geek" cultural aspects of our world, can find out more about the things that some of people they care about find such passion in. We also want people who may enjoy their small focused areas can find guidance to new enjoyable realms that they may have heard in passing but didn't feel comfortable asking for more details about in the moment.
If you should hear your niece or nephew say "I LOVE Naruto!" and you have no clue what the heck they are talking about, you can come here and can get some quick details. We'll let you know it's an anime series, which is form of animated entertainment (or cartoon if you are old school). We'll list some of the main characters and we'll hopefully be able to point you to different types of toys or collectibles that might appeal to a fan of Naruto, and suggestions for additional anime series that might also appeal to your niece or nephew.
We are planning to eventually cover the vast and very diverse realms of all things geeky which go from movies to comic books, anime to manga, role-playing games, costumes/cosplay and more. We will be adding some focus on small independent authors and game producers, as well as the multitudes of fandom conventions.
You can request information on a topic you're looking for and we haven't got to yet with our contact page. Just let us know and we will try to get a basic primer together for the topic you asked for (that whole squeaky wheel thing). You can subscribe to our site and we can notify you when new articles are posted. We will NEVER sell your information to other sites or services.
So with that being said, we will get to writing and posting and we hope you will join us for the ride.
We look forward to sharing this adventure with you.
Gene's Geekdom Team.
"I feel that I have had a great benefit, personally, from growing up appreciating all things that are 'geeky' or 'nerdy'. Though I must admit, being good with math, science, computers and named Eugene in the 1980's when every nerd movie came out and all of them had the class "dweeb" sharing my name was a tough price of admission. I also feel that what was once a much more fringe set of things to be passionate about has grown to a cultural force, for example you would be hard-pressed to find anyone that can't think of at least one superhero." -Gene
